The Call of the Lone Wolf
How Solitude Can Unlock Your Inner Beast
Remember those moments when you see everyone at the gym with a workout buddy, and a tiny voice inside whispers, "I wish I had that"?
I used to be right there with you – until I realized something crazy...
Being a "lone wolf" in the gym was actually my superpower.
No distractions, no waiting around, just me against the weights. It forced me to go that extra mile, find focus I didn't know I had.
In my last post, I asked,
"What needs to change so you stop quitting on yourself?"
Tough question, right? It was for me, back when I first started.
For me, the answer wasn't some fancy workout plan.
It was shifting my mindset. Instead of letting negative thoughts run the show, I started questioning them.
I embraced the grind, even on those days when it felt impossible.
Or in essence,
I Took BACK Control of My Own Life.
So can You. So should You.
So, here's a new question for today:
What if, instead of focusing on what's holding you back, you focused on what's ALREADY propelling you forward?
What fuels your fire, even when motivation fades?
If you already know the answer, use the button below to share.
If not, don’t beat yourself up. These things take time to get some clarity on.
Here are 3 moments when I had to learn this the hard way:
1. The Audio Fuel
Sometimes, especially on those days when I don't feel like hitting the gym, I need a kick in the pants.
My go-to?
Epic motivational speeches with that booming orchestral music in the background.
It gets my blood pumping and my attitude right for a killer workout. So here’s your first tip.
Tip #1: Find Your Soundtrack.
What music, speech, or sound amps you up?
Make a playlist and blast it when you need that extra boost.
2. The Vulnerability Strength
When I first started working out alone, I was terrified.
What if I dropped weights on myself?
What if I was doing everything wrong?
But that fear became my fuel.
I channeled it. It forced me to be meticulous about my form and push myself even harder.
I found myself ever so focused during my workouts. I guess, Fear PROPELLED Me.
So, here’s number 2.
Tip #2: Reframe Your Fear.
Everyone has those "what if" moments.
Instead of letting them paralyze you, use that energy to become even more focused and determined.
If you made it this far, it shows that you’re committed.
Say out loud: ‘I AM PROUD THAT I’M COMMITTED‘.
It may sound silly at first but some of you might need it more than you think. Affirmations work.

Lastly,
3. Find Your Pack
Don't get me wrong—even lone wolves crave some connection.
At first, I was hesitant to talk to people at the gym. But turns out, they were friendly and helpful!
Even just a smile and a nod from familiar faces can make a big difference, especially on those days when you're struggling.
That's why I created the Syrax Squad.
We share the wins, the struggles, and the lessons learned along the way.
Think of it as a place to sharpen your mindset AND your muscles.
Tip #3: Your Community is Flexible
Support doesn't have to look like a workout buddy.
Find your tribe online, in a class, or even in those small, positive interactions at the gym.
or if all that is too hard, Shoot up a message in the Squad Chatroom below.
Your Turn.
What fuels YOUR fire in the gym (or in life!)?
Don’t freak out! It’s the same question I asked you during the start.
Until next time, remember this:
You're stronger than you think, especially when you fly solo.
I'm Rooting for You.
